Poetry

This weeks theme for TAG TUESDAY is poetry.
I am not a great reader of poetry so I don't really have a favourite but I chose a poem called Leisure by W.H.Davies.

Leisure

What is life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare?

No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare as long as sheep and cows.

No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.

No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night.

No time to turn at Beauty's glance
And watch her feet, how they dance.

No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began.

A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.

                                                                                           W.H.Davies.

This tag was a bit of an experiment for me because I have never used ink to draw with before. It started off as a pencil drawing.

Then I went over the background with ink. I wanted to dull it down a bit so I painted a layer of gesso over  to see what would happen and I liked the result. I then finished off the lone figure with ink and wrote the first couple of lines of the poem freehand.                                                                                                              Hope you like it, it's very different to my last two tags and I would welcome your comments.                           I would like to say to everyone participating in  the TAG TUESDAY challenge congrats. to you all they are all wonderful.
I just wanted to get my tag posted in time for this weeks challange, but  I will be back soon with those pics.of some of my previous work that I promised in my last post.
 Happy Blogging.

  3. I think this tag is beautiful and it matches the poem perfectly - the image is so serene and still. I like the fact you haven't over-worked the figure or the landscape but kept the calmness - it really works well.
Thanks also for your kind comments on my blog.
Keep up the good work - I'll certainly be back for another visit!

  4. A beautiful tag, Fuzzie Fingers, which really does interpret the poem well. I love that poem. Since becoming ill with M.E. I have taken a lot more time to "stand" (well, sit, actually!!) "and stare"... Most of the time when I was well, I was too busy for such things. Now I appreciate the little, generally unnoticed, things in nature, the beauty of our cats' fur, the sound of the blackbird in our garden singing his heart out, all the little birds coming to the feeders my hubby has put outside where I can see them.

I obviously needed a huge hint to make me slow down a bit!!
