Hello everyone,

I just stopped by to say a big thankyou to those of you who have stopped by and left a comment sending me your best wishes they are very much appreciated.

I think today is my last day at the phisio as last week she suggested that I  may have to rely on painkillers as and when required. As a result, when doing my art work, I am still limited to doing a little at a time. Which is very frustrating.

Although I have been unable to join my textile class this term my tutor has kindly still let me show a couple of textile pieces in another exhibition of  her students work to be held this coming weekend. So I have been gradually working in them over the past few weeks.

One of them was a piece I started at one of her classes. I was not really happy with the overall piece but I isolated part of it and did some further embellishing and came up with something that  once it was framed I was happy with.

The second piece was a new one that is, in fact,  mixed media,  incorperating fabric, paper, acrylic paint and Pan Pastel. I am sorry that I can't post any pictures of them at the moment. I mentioned in my last post that my main computor wa son the blink.  It is fixed now but I took the opportunity to clear out my work room and get my hubby to decorat it. So once every thing is back up and running I will post some pic's then.

Bye for now x

  1. Glad you are still managing to do some art work, even though only a little at a time. This must have been such a frustrating time for you, but how lovely that your kind hubby is doing up your work room. I'm looking forward to seeing your pieces of art when you are all organised and back in the swing of things.

  2. Hope you don't have to take too many painkillers and that your room will soon be fully functional and you will be able to create at will! Have you got a little notebook you can carry round with you? I thought you could then jot down all the lovely things you want to do when you are fully up and running! Looking forward to seeing your photo's when you are able to post them. Best wishes, Barb x

  3. Oh Fuzzie, I am so sorry to hear you are still suffering - you and your computer too! I hope that you will gradually be able to build up to doing a bit more without causing yourself too much pain. I am glad you've been able to have some physio and that it's helped a bit. The NHS isn't all that good on spines unfortunately, and usually only offer a bit of physio and painkillers - a few years ago my hubby had a bad back and got pretty well no help, and was helped greatly by a chiropracter who ordered an X-ray and then gave him 3 treatments - he said the first one was amazing - one "click" and he could really feel the difference! The following 2 treatments sorted him completely and he's had no trouble since. It might be worth thinking about!

Thank you for your lovely comment - I'm so glad you like my first art journal page! I am very pleased with how it turned out. Funnily enough, I have the same qualms about using music as you, and this wasn't helped recently when I mentioned it to my sister and she was horrified and said "That's sacrilege!" I do agree that it's better to use printed music in a different art form if it's never going to be actually played - surely it's more sacreligious to put it in a drawer - like having a Stradivarius in a museum rather than being played!! The music on my piece was actually a photocopy of a song so that the accompanist could use the book, so I have less problem about that! It's also worth scanning music and then you can reduce the size to suit your project, too, and even manipulate it digitally. I've got an old copy of Mendelssohn's Elijah with some pages missing in the middle, so I don't mind about using that, either, as it's no use to man or beast in its present state!
