Goodies from Canada

I am very PLEASED!!!! to say that recently I was one of the lucky winners of a giveaway by the very talented Kim Henkel. I love her work so I am very glad to be able to say that I am the proud owner of one of her creations, it is an original painting on teabag paper.  It came enclosed in a lovely card.

I have tried my hand in the past at creating something using teabag paper but I'm afraid it ended in failure. However, I thought I would give it another go and this is my attempt.

I used a graphite pencil, koh-i-noor dyebased watercolours, pan pastels and a sharpie pen. The teabag paper is very delicate which makes it very hard to work on. I am quite pleased how it turned out but I need a lot more practice.

Here is my latest page in my handmade sketchbook.

When I originally posted the page on the right you could see the start of this page on the left and this is how it turned out.
This is Face#2 in my journey of drawing faces.

Thank you for visiting. Please feel free to leave a comment, they are very much appreciated.

Bye for now x

  1. I love both the tea bag paper paintings!
Presumably you stick the tea bag paper to the page first???

  3. I am so happy that the little painting and card arrived safely. And I think your tea bag painting is wonderful! In answer to Gill's question, I actually often draw/paint on it before it is glued down to a piece of paper, as sometimes I add things underneath before I glue them down (bits of collage that you can see through the tea bag)
Your journal pages are wonderful! love the colours, the design, the white space, the face - beautifully done!

  4. Aren't you lucky - I love getting goodies in the post! I have heard other people mention teabag paper on their blogs but I don't know what it is - is it actually the paper from a used teabag? - that sounds a bit of a daft question really, but do you have to wash the tea leaves off it and dry it out or is it paper just called teabag paper but has nothing to do with teabags? Your little work of art is beautiful on it - lovely colours - and I love your journal page - the face is fab, and I particularly like the pink runny bits!
