29 Faces day 26

My second post today.
Today's face is something very different for me. Over the last couple of days the thumb joint in my right hand has been very painful.  Although I hate to admit it I think it's because I have been holding a pencil and paint brush etc more often than usual.

So today I decided to use only my non dominant hand (my left). In the past I have seen artists' work produced in this way and in fact I have seen artists taking part in this challenge using their non dominant hand. I have tried it a couple of times before but with terrible results but ,not for the first time in this challenge, I have amazed myself. It didn't turn out too bad.

I used pencil and oil pastels. I only have a cheap set of oil pastels and the more I use them the more I would love to try the more expensive creamy ones that are on the market. Another must have for my ever growing list of  new materials.

When I look at her, I can't believe she was done totally with my non dominant hand.

This is what she looked like before I added the colour.

I've got a very busy couple of days coming up so not sure what I am going to be able to manage. I may have to play catch up at the weekend.

Bye for now. x

  2. Wow, she's lovely and I'm totally amazed it was done with your non-dominant hand - you must be verging on ambidextorous? because I really can't do anything with my left hand except hold a cup of tea! Thanks so much for stopping by my blog earlier, hope you have a good week and your thumb joint heals - you need it to be in full working order for the last few faces!

  4. It's fun to try something like this, isn't it? In some way the pressure is off because you don't expect much when using your non-dominant hand. This turned out great :)

  5. You did great with your non-dominant hand! I know, so many art materials out there, I sometimes wish I worked in a shop that sells them so I could try them all out first hand ... ;-)

  6. They say it's good for the brain from time to time to use the non dominant hand. Don't know about that, but it's interesting, because you have to be on mercy of a part of your body you can't control so easily. You've done well, I especially like the shadows and spots of light on her face.
Looked at your other faces, found my favorites in face 25 and day 6.
