Only Just Made It.

During the 29 faces challenge I experimented with oil pastels and I enjoyed working with them. So today I thought I would get them out again and have a play.

I covered a book page with gesso, collaged on a torn piece of wrapping paper and used oil pastels, acrylic and inktense pencils.

As I am new to working with oil pastels I struggle with them a bit and at one stage I thought she wasn't going to make it to completion, hence the title of this post. There was a time when if I wasn't happy with something I would throw it away and start again. However, something I have learned  is that it is possible to  re-work things until you are happy with them.

Thanks for visiting x

  1. With every single thing I make there's a point where I think it's looking like sh* and where I start wondering whether I'll ever get it right. I almost always get through it, and when I don't I just leave it there and maybe work on it again after a few months or so. I never throw anything away. I really like how you did the background here, with one side white and blank and the other one colorful and busy.

  2. I have learned that too, just keep on going, covering, re-working and at some point I am happy with most pieces. This is lovely to see.

  4. I think oils pastels are difficult to use, but they are a glorious medium for adding pops of light to an area. This is sweet!!!! She has soul.

  5. Good job. I have found all pieces go through a phase when it seems impossible. But sometimes the best ones come from reworking a mess.
