Summer of Colour Week One

Yes! I am joining in yet another challenge 'Summer of Colour'. Click on the SOC button in the side-bar and read all about it.

The colour prompt for this week is aqua blue, yellow and a pop of hot pink. This is my take on the theme.

I had to crop this image because the bottom half just didn't work out. I put houses in the background so I could keep in with the theme over at Mix it Monthly and Art Journal Journey but realised that it is to much like the previous painting. All in all this hasn't been a very satisfying project but I didn't feel it was bad enough to throw in the bin so I decided to share it anyway.

See you tomorrow with WOYWW. x

  7. Your girl is lovely in her SOC colours and with her serious face. The houses in the background give good depth.

  13. I crop a lot of my watercolor paintings. It drives my teacher crazy. But I sell ACEOs and sometimes 6 of those are better than one bigger one that I don't like. The contrast between the color of the figure and the neutral gray of the houses tells some kind of story, especially with the pink heart. Like abstract, you leave it up to the viewer to tell the tale.

  17. I agree with Penny Stewart when she says this tells a story. The softness of her face and that expression, kind of knowing... along with the background grey houses.... this could be an illustration in a book. It's lovely!
