WOYWW 266

What is on my desk this week?

All set up for some new projects.
On the left I have my paints ready for this week SOC challenge .

The colours are red, blue and a touch of light blue. Not my favourite colour combination so I'm a little stumped on what to do this week.

To the right is the start of my piece for Mix it Monthly where the subject is 'Boats'.

I did a little paper folding and made a boat to start with which I will attach to a background. I'm keeping my plans for this under wraps at the moment but I will share the results here soon.

Also on my desk you can see a little sketch I did in my small sketchbook.

I was tempted to add colour but  I like it the way it is so I think I will leave it as a pencil sketch. Maybe I will use it as inspiration for a future painting. Sometimes my painting/drawings tell me a story and this is one of them. I think that is the reason why I haven't painted them so as not to change their expressions or the look in the eyes. I just had to leave them just as they are.

Why not take a look at other work desks around the world. Just click on the WOYWW badge in the side-bar and take a look.

Thanks for visiting. x

  1. I too am stumped with this week's color challenge. The colors do nothing for me. I like the simplicity of pencil drawings.I look forward to seeing what story you decide to tell with later. I will come back later this week to see what you decided to do with the SOC.

  3. That's a lovely little sketch and I think it works perfectly without colour. I haven't really liked or felt inspired by any of the colour combinations on SOC this year - I think I would have preferred being given two colours to work with - so far I've been amazed at how beautifully you've put the colours together, so I'm really looking forward to seeing what you do this week.

  4. I think it's a real skill - knowing when to continue and when to leave well alone. Really like the whimsy of the sketch, almost dreamy! The little boat is cute..I don't think I could just go ahead and remember that fold anymore..would definitely involve a lot of looking up and spent paper!

  5. Your sketch is beautiful and so expressive. I'd leave it as is too. That boat is so cute I look forward to seeing what you do with it.
    Have a great week.

  6. Interesting post, Fuzzie. Your sketch is gorgeous and I agree you should leave it as it is - it is a finished piece! The little boat is adorable and it will be fun to see what you do with it. As for the colour combo, anything you do will do it justice, I have no doubt. It's good to be challenged to think outside the box sometimes, isn't it.

Thank you for your visit and your nice comment - glad you like the look of my little book. It's coming on nicely, when I get the chance to spend any time on it! Yesterday my boring left-brain duties got neglected in favour of it, but what the heck... As for the diet, I am thrilled with how well it's going! On the semi-fast days you have to reduce your calorie intake to 500 cals. I always have porridge for breakfast, along with toast, yoghurt, fruit and coffee (a good substantial breakfast that sets me up for the day!) and on fast days I just have the porridge and coffee. I never have sugar with it anyway. For lunch I had a couple of rice cakes with some low fat cream cheese and a slice of smoked salmon, a couple of cherry tomatoes and a few grapes, and for supper I cooked us some white fish in the microwave with mushrooms and herbs, and made some parsley sauce, and we had new potatoes and 2 veges - my hubby had a normal helping and I had a minuscule one with just one little potato!! Yes, I do get hunger pangs during the day but a drink of water or a cup of tea usually sorts that, and I know things will be back to normal tomorrow, and two days a week of this is really no hardship at all. Eating normally the rest of the time is key for me as I quickly get fed up with being on a diet all the time and always end up falling off the wagon lol!

    Happy WOYWW,

  7. Oh it is just so sweet as it is. But why not scan it and print a bunch then have a good ol play with different techniques just to see what it looks like? You could paint their faces and Zentagle their hair. Or watercolour the face and gild the clothes, and mask and stamp the hair. You can go wild trying every improbable combo and just see what makes you smile. Heck, I would do it just for fun, even if I never did anything with them - but I bet they would make a really interesting ATC series, if you are in to those....

    I'm just sayin'...

    :)

I agree on the SOC colors this week. I have a start laying on Betsy, but really haven't committed to it yet........just looks so dark.

I adore your drawing, just as it is.

    Have a great week
