Poetry

This weeks theme for TAG TUESDAY is poetry.
I am not a great reader of poetry so I don't really have a favourite but I chose a poem called Leisure by W.H.Davies.

Leisure

What is life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare?

No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare as long as sheep and cows.

No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.

No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night.

No time to turn at Beauty's glance
And watch her feet, how they dance.

No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began.

A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.

                                                                                           W.H.Davies.

This tag was a bit of an experiment for me because I have never used ink to draw with before. It started off as a pencil drawing.

Then I went over the background with ink. I wanted to dull it down a bit so I painted a layer of gesso over  to see what would happen and I liked the result. I then finished off the lone figure with ink and wrote the first couple of lines of the poem freehand.                                                                                                              Hope you like it, it's very different to my last two tags and I would welcome your comments.                           I would like to say to everyone participating in  the TAG TUESDAY challenge congrats. to you all they are all wonderful.
I just wanted to get my tag posted in time for this weeks challange, but  I will be back soon with those pics.of some of my previous work that I promised in my last post.
 Happy Blogging.

Valentines Day Tag

Just in time for the TAG TUESDAY theme 'Valentines Day'. I struggled with this one because I was trying to steer away from hearts as that was the theme for last week. But no matter how hard I tried, hearts and the colour red just summed up Valentines Day for me so I gave in.

I painted the tag with red acrylic paint and covered ith with layers of painted Lutradur. The hearts are made of fabric paper. This was the first time I have made fabric paper and I was'nt sure that it had turned out very well but once I had cut out the heart shapes and edged them with gold acrylic paint, I was pleased with the result.

Thankyou to those of you that have taken the trouble to leave your comments and I'm so pleased to see that I have some followers already.

Working on these tags was the starting block for my blog but in future posts I look forward to sharing other pieces I have worked on including felt making and textile art.

Till next  time. Happy Blogging.

New Beginnings.

Hi. It has been along time coming but here it is . My first post. I am not a very technically minded person so blogging is new to me so I hope you will bare with me while I find my feet.
There are many blogs  I enjoy and I have always hesitated in pushing that button to follow them but in January I came across TAG TUESDAY on Carolyn Saxby's  blog  LOVE STITCHING RED and I was determined to take part.
This weeks theme is 'hearts' and here is my first tag.

I painted the tag with acrylic paint and stained it with a tea bag. The heart is tyvek and organza which I stitched together with free hand machchine embroidery and melted with a heat gun.
Beneath the heart is a layer of crumpled brown paper and gold foil fused together with painted bondaweb.

At the bottom I stamped the words' TATTERED HEART' and overlayed them with a piece of organza.
Hope you like my first offering  will be back soon with some posts.

Bye for now. xx
