TAG TUESDAY ' Purple '

Hi  Everyone,

As promised here is this weeks tag for Tag Tuesday.

This weeks theme is 'purple' . As you will have seen in previous posts I have been creating some pieces out of used tomatoe puree tubes.This week I have used this technique to create my tag.

I started by using freehand  machine embroidery in purple thread to attach the metal  to a piece of felt which I had previously added some gold  foil to using bondaweb. I then painted a random pattern on to the metal with purple nail varnish.. (You can also use Glass Paints).

I used a brown tag which I crumpled up and then ironed flat and glued on a torn page which I also crumpled and ironed then coloured it  with some Vintage Photo Distress Ink. I then attached the metal/felt with a stitch at each corner. The tassel was made using Hemp Twine.

This was my first attempt at sewing into metal and so I was a little bit apprehensive. But nice effects can be achieved by sewing more heavily with variegated coloured thread as seen in Paper Metal & Stitch by Maggie Grey & Jane Wild. This is one of my favourite books at the moment and  was the inspiration behind the techniques used for this weeks tag.

Cushions

Hi,

Just wanted to stop by and show you what I have been working on the last couple of days. I was asked to make some cushions and here they are. I made four in total and the fabric was a pleasure to work with. I love the pattern and they brightened up my work room a treat. Pity they have to go.

I will be back shortly with this weeks tag for Tag Tuesday. From tomorrow the theme is 'Purple'.

Spring Has Sprung

Hello Everyone,

For any of you who visited last week  to see my Tag for last weeks theme for Tag Tuesday. I'm sorry to say that last weeks events over took me some what and I just did'nt mange to get one done. However here is my tag for this weeks theme which is 'Spring Flowers'.

I painted the background in Lumiere Acrylic paint and overstamped it with a script stamp from 'My Paper World' in black ink. The stems are also stamped and the flowers are made of circles of silk and organza.

I was'nt sure that they looked  particularly 'spring'  like so I started another tag which was going great until I tried some free-hand machine embroidery on it and made a mess of it . So needless to say , it ended up in the bin.

Well I hope you like this one anyway cos this was my favourite out of the two.

Easter Tag

Hi everyone, and Happy Easter.
Just thought I would drop by and post my latest tag for ' Tag Tuesday'.

I didn'nt want to do a typical 'Easter Tag' with eggs or chicks so I went for a 'spring'  like tag.

I created the stylised daffodils from layers of torn pages from a book which I painted in watercolour and I added sequins and seed beads in the centre. The stems are acrylic paint and I used black ink and a dip pen to circle around each flower and stem..

I added a butterfly and some birds in a fine liner pen and stamped the words ' Happy Easter'  on painted tyvek.

I'm not completely satisfied with it but I wanted it to be spring like and I think I have achieved that at least.

I have been doing a lot of blog hopping lately looking at  what all you arty folk are doing out there. I have come across some great blogs and the exciting thing is there are loads more out there yet to discover. I have so many ideas going around in my head and lots of techniques I want to try.

Talking of which I am off  to make a cuppa and settle back at my computer with some chocolate and do some more blog hopping and later I'll sit down and do some creating of my own.
