WOYWW 243

This is my first WOYWW. This year I decided to take the plunge and link up to some of the  art blogging  communities out there and I am looking forward to sharing  what is on my work desk with all of you.

This is a mixed media piece that I am currently working on. I want to add butterflies and rather than collage original images I thought I would paint my own but I didn't realize how hard that was going to be due to the fact that butterflies have to be symmetrical. I have managed to complete one but now I want to do identical ones in different sizes.

I had the idea of using graph paper, If anyone has got any tips I would be glad to hear them.
I am off to link with WOYWW and see what everyone else is up to. If you would like to see other peoples desks click on the button in the sidebar.
Bye for now x

  1. Welcome to our crazy fun world! It is addictive but good fun.
Love the idea of painting your own collage, I am no good at that but can do abstract so I would paint abstract and cut out butterfly shape.
    have a good woywweek!

  3. Hi Fuzzy it is my first WOYWW this year too! If you have a plain butterfly punch or die you could then paint in the details. I think I would be tempted to scan and duplicate the lovely one you have already done and then print a whole host of them out in different sizes. I think the butterfly idea is fab and they will look wonderful on you gorgeous artwork. WOYWW Hugs from Helen 74 x

  7. Lovely to find you here!! I'm so pleased you are branching into new pastures, I am super impressed with your butterfly, i really wouldn't worry too much about symmetry I like things rather stylised and often that means you don't need to fuss too much with symmetry.

  8. Welcome to WOYWW! Loads of mixed media work to be found at WOYWW alone, so you're in great company! I am unable to help with the butterfly...you will learn as you go along that I am too idle to spend the time and also...I stamp!! Love the lady in the pic, she's very serene.

  9. Hello there - welcome to the madhouse!! I like your artwork very much...butterflies though...hmmmm. You think they should be easy to paint, but they're not! If you don't mind tracing from an image, I think that would be the way to get a true likeness....

  14. Welcome to the mad world of WOYWW.
Your butterfly is amazing, are you saying that they are symmetrical in shape or design, or both? Certainly getting physical symmetry can be achieved with a die cutter or folding before cutting, but symmetrical pattern will have to be painted and you have done a wonderful job on that one.
looking forward to seeing future examples of your beautiful art work.
