Back to Basics

My first Moleskine.

I tried out my new  sketching pencils

Compared Inktense pencils with Caran d' ache watercolour pencils

Molly has dropped her ball of wool and she feels embarrassed.

She is a little more embarrassed than I intended.

Those Inktense pencils are more intense than I thought,

You Never Know Till You Try.

Hi

A while ago I prepared some old National Geographic pages with citra solv.

You can read a little about the process and see some

artwork using the papers on a previous post  here.

In the past I have cut it up and used it as collage but I was wondering

what it would be like to actually work on a page with my oil pastels.

Here is a page I did today.

I used oil pastels, Stabilo All pencil and for the white dots I used a Uni-ball Signo pen.

I really didn't think the pen would work very well on the glossy paper

and was even more amazed that it worked over the oil pastel.

Hope you like her,

Still Just Doodling

Hi

I still can't settle into some serious painting. So here is another oil pastel doodle.

I think I prefer using oil pastels on a smooth surface but this piece of paper was just to hand.

. I would love to hear your thoughts, your comments are always  appreciated.

To Much of a Good Thing

Hi

As I mentioned in a previous post I have been spending a lot of time on Pinterest.

I have been soaking up lots of inspiration but maybe you can have too much of a good thing.

I get back to creating my own art work.

I haven't actually painted anything for  along time now.

I am still struggling with the pain in my leg so for ease

I have just been using pencils and pastels which are easy to use

when resting my leg in front of the television.

Here are a couple of pages from my art journal.

Stabilo All pencil and water brush

oil pastel

I wasn't very happy with this one and was adding some white to her hair and in frustration

continued over her face then........ I quite liked it lol!

More Colouring In

I just wanted to share a couple more pages from Juliette Crane's Big Monster Colouring Book.

What Inspires Me.

Hi

I recently purchased some 150gsm cotton rag handmade paper.

Not having used it before I was looking forward to trying it out.

I decided to start out with coloured pencils.

I love the texture and I think it lends itself to coloured pencils wonderfully.

I mentioned in my last post that I am learning a lot about the type of art I am drawn to.

One thing I have learned is that I prefer a more muted and

 natural colour palette.

I have already had an interest in handmade books and abstract landscapes

but would love to explore these further.

I had a lovely comment from a fellow blogger Giggles asking me to post

a couple of links to what has been inspiring me lately.

I can't find a way to share my Pinterest boards here on blogger

so here is just a taste of  what I have found to inspire me recently.

I hope you enjoy checking them out.

Dipping my Toe in the Water.

Hi

After such a long break from creating the question is where to start?

I took the plunge and joined Pinterest during my little break and Wow!

what an array of inspiration there is to be found there.

It is so satisfying when all the images you love are grouped together on your boards.

However, I have learned something and that is the type of art I love is very different from the art I am

producing at the moment which has made me wonder about how to go forward with my own work.

So at the moment I am giving it a lot of thought.

In the mean time I thought I would share a quick  'scribble' sketch I did today.

Then I added just a little colour.

Untitled

Hi

I have been absent for a while during the run up to my daughters Wedding

It was a lovely day and all went well.

I thought it would be nice to take some Polaroid instant photos.

They have made a lovely keepsake with their nostalgic look.

Here is an 'arty' shot that I took and it is one of my favourite photos of the day.

I loved her shoes. They were so comfy to wear and soooo sparkly.

I am now ready to get back to creating art again so I hope you will continue to stop by to see

 some new artwork.
