29 Faces Day 2

Hello there!

I decided to get my coloured pencils out for face no. 2.

I liked the way she looked at this stage so I decided to leave her with just her face coloured in. Which I thought was also appropriate as the focal point of this challenge is the face.

Thanks to all who visited here yesterday and for the lovely comments. I am sorry if you were put off by the word verification thingy. I wasn't aware that it was turned on. I have turned it off now so hopefully you will have no problem.

Well I am off  to check out what everyone else has been up to.
See you tomorrow x

29 Faces Challenge Day 1

Hi Everyone,
This is it the first day of the 29 Faces Challenge. I am a bit nervous, as creating one face a day is a big challenge for me because I tend to spend too much time pondering over my work.

For those of you that are part of Paint Party Friday you will have seen the beginnings of this face. If not you can see her here. She looks very different now.

.

Many fantastic artists take part in this challenge and if you want to take a look follow the link above
Hope to see you back here tomorrow for  face no.2 .xx

Ooh it is Friday already. Time for another Paint Party Friday.
This is a painting that I am working on at the moment. I am posting here in her early stage for Paint Party Friday and will finish her off today ready to post her as my first face for 29 Faces challenge tomorrow.

I hope you can see her okay as it is not a very good picture as her features have not yet been defined.

A big THANK YOU to all of you who visited here and for your lovely comments. You made me feel very welcome.

If you don't know about Paint Party Friday follow the above link and see what it is all about.

WOYWW 243

This is my first WOYWW. This year I decided to take the plunge and link up to some of the  art blogging  communities out there and I am looking forward to sharing  what is on my work desk with all of you.

This is a mixed media piece that I am currently working on. I want to add butterflies and rather than collage original images I thought I would paint my own but I didn't realize how hard that was going to be due to the fact that butterflies have to be symmetrical. I have managed to complete one but now I want to do identical ones in different sizes.

I had the idea of using graph paper, If anyone has got any tips I would be glad to hear them.
I am off to link with WOYWW and see what everyone else is up to. If you would like to see other peoples desks click on the button in the sidebar.

Girl in a Red Dress

If you saw my last post you will have read about the beginnings of this piece.

acrylic paint, inktence pencils and oil pastels on paper.

It was unfinished because I couldn't decide on the colour of her dress, I was thinking red but I wasn't sure if it would look right but in the end I decided to go with it and I am pleased with the result.

For a while now I have been wanting to link up with other blogs to try and share my work with other like minded bloggers.but have been unsure on how to go about linking up, For the first time I have tried and been successful  in 'grabbing buttons as you will see in my sidebar.
I am planning to link this with 'Paint Party Friday so wish me luck.

In the U.K January is a cold and drizzly month .That, together with the post Christmas blues means that February cannot come quick enough for me.
However I am currently working on a couple of mixed media pieces along side each other (which is unusual for me) and although they are both still 'a work in progress' I thought I would share one of them with you today.

This piece came about because I decided to make some patterned papers to use in my future projects. Initially I was disappointed in them and disliked them all. This background was the one I liked the least. But the more I looked at it the more I was determined to do something with it. I added the figure of a girl, the window and darkened the bottom of the background. I am still trying to make my mind up what coloujr to do her dress so until then she has been put on hold.

Even though I disliked the patterned papers so much I have used two more of them in my other piece which I will share with you in a future post.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

To You !

Now that the celebrations are over with and the Christmas decorations are packed away for another year (a very sad time for me, I love all the baubles and the glitter.) it is time to get creating again.

I have made a start by working on the  unfinished journal page that I shared with you in the latter part of last year. I have completed the little dog and the umbrella. I also added to the background in the top right hand corner.

I thought I had finished  but then I realized that she needs a puddle at her feet to ground her. Not only that, she also seems to have ventured out in her bare feet. I think a pair of wellies are required.

I will finish her off behind the scenes, as it were, I wouldn't want to bore anyone with yet another post on this piece.

Even though completing this page has dragged on I am very happy with it.

Bye for now x
