I want to start by saying THANK YOU to all who have visited and commented here recently I love hearing your thoughts and comments. It has been very hectic over the past week and I have not been able to spend as much time as I would like visiting my blog friends. I hope to rectify that ,at least a little, at the weekend.
I posted a WIP on Wednesday and I have done a little work on one of the faces and this is how it looks at the moment.
I read a little while ago on someones blog (sorry I can't remember which one) that some people are unsure about posting 'works in progress'. I myself like to see the process. I think you can learn so much from seeing how other artists work I certainly have and still do. Talking of which...........
Earlier this week I ordered a book called 'Brave Intuitive Painting' by
Flora Bowley and it has just arrived and is sitting here in its cardboard packaging just waiting to be opened. I just love getting 'arty' books and I also get one of my favourite sub-straits to work on for free (cardboard packaging).
I am linking this to
PAINT PARTY FRIDAY.
THANKS FOR STOPPING BY.

Your faces are coming along well. I love cardboard, too, it s a wonderful stuff to work on. Valerie
ReplyDeleteYes - good to see the progress... have fun with the new book..Happy PPF!
ReplyDeleteThe face is beautiful and I love the background colours. I have a couple of 4inch canvases I found for a a couple of pounds each months and months ago, but I'm too worried about making a mess to use them. I guess I should use something like cardboard to practise on, lol. A very busy time coming up tho' what with ICAD starting on Monday as well as Summer of Colour and the school holidays soon after. Are you doing either challenge Carol?
ReplyDeleteYour new book sounds wonderful and looks gorgeous! I am too uptight to paint or work in that way. I wish there was someone close that I could practise with, getting that immediate feedback would be invaluable. Oh well, if wishes were horses eh, lol
Thanks very much for your comment on my recent post if you would like to look here https://www.flickr.com/photos/65345361@N02/17579527043/in/dateposted-public/ you can see a butterfly in action.
I have done some of Carolyn's prompts on pages that I don't like the prompts in mine, and she and Karen have done the same with some of mine. It's a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to seeing what the new book has to offer in the Summer.
Have a fab weekend :o)
I very much enjoy works in progress too! Yours is lovely.
ReplyDeleteLove your wip. I think that hairless look is great.
ReplyDeleteI love to see in progress photos, and I always photograph all my work during the process. It's so much fun to see it all from start to finished and so much to learn from it. Yours looks great and I'm sure it will be beautiful when finished.
ReplyDeleteYour girl has such a sweet face. I love seeing other artists create, even if it's only through work in progress. I started my intuitive paintings after I did the first online workshop of Flora Bowley, and she has forever changed my way of painting. I don't know how the book is, but her online workshop is awesome.
ReplyDeleteI am with you and love seeing works in progress... it always helps me appreciate just how awesome the finished product is... and I just love seeing how people work...xx
ReplyDeleteI appreciate seeing wips and so I try to share the same much as I remember to take pics that is:) Your background is fab already and I love the detail showing such promise in the faces!

ReplyDeleteI prefer works in progress photosl because if I am inspired by it then I can try my hand at recreating it. So happy you bought that book. Looking forward to see your work from it. Do like this painting you are working on now. Diane from PPF
ReplyDeleteI love works in progress but I just never stop to take photos! I admire those who do.... Love this gal and those background flowers are my absolute favourite thing....I could imagine a comforter or gorgeous coat made out of them... sorry just dreaming!!

ReplyDeleteI am right there with you on both issues,,,i love to see others and their work in progress and love taking photos of my own (I forget so much). and YES, we learn and learn, half the fun!
ReplyDeletewhen I get special pckgs. in the mail such as Flora's book, I almost always wait to open them, and then savor them with taking my time!
and your girl has the sweetest face ever and love your colors...she looks a bit like you;) I always want to leave the hair off and have a few times, but it is fun to choose "how" and "color" as well. your work is always pure DELIGHT! XO
I love seeing the progress, too. It is great fun and one can learn so much. I like your painting--it is so soft and sweet.
ReplyDeleteI also love seeing works in progress as well as the process. It's always interesting to see how a piece comes together. And sharing a work in progress can also be very encouraging. Your painting is looking beautiful, I'm looking forward to seeing the finished piece. I'm also re-reading Flora's right now. She also has a great online workshop.
