This is how my desk is looking today.
As you can see it is quite a mess. I have been working on three projects at the same time which is unusual for me and I haven't had chance since my last post to do any more to any of them.
You can see two of them on the left, one of my ' little girls' and a mini concertina book. If you would like to know more about my WIP's you can read about them in my last post.
In the middle you can see a couple of old editions of National Geographic which I am so pleased that I found in a local vintage shop. The reason for buying them is to try my hand at making some Citra-solv altered papers to use in my artwork.
Citra-solv is a household cleaner which when it is painted on old National Geographic pages dissolves the ink and results in some interesting patterns. If you haven't come across the technique before you can see some lovely artwork by searching 'Citra-solv art' on Google.
I can't wait to give it a try. Now, I just have to acquire a bottle of Citra-solv!
Well I am hoping to spend tomorrow working on my WIP's so I should have something finished to show you soon.
Thanks for visiting. x
Citra-sol, well I'll be stumped. Can't wait to see how this goes for you. Hugs and Happy WOYWW! Nan G #53
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to se what you do with your Citra-sol (once you find some of course!) Sounds intriguing.
ReplyDeleteHave a fun week

Have fun with the Citra Solve paper making!
ReplyDeleteWell would you believe that I've just spent the afternoon citra solving some old Nat.Geographics! I found the idea on Paper Rainbow's blog about two weeks ago - I already had the magazines and I bought the citrasolv on Amazon! I used the first few pages which are adverts and it didn't work at all - very disheartened - but then youtube videos told me not to use the advert pages, and after that it worked fine - but I'm afraid I always dive in first and then look for instructions when it's all gone wrong! I hope you have fun with it, and I'm looking forward to seeing your results. By the way Jane Goodall (on the front of your magazine) is one of my all time hero's - are you really going to Citrasolv her - I don't think I could!!!
ReplyDeleteCitrasolv sounds fun, Fuzzie - have to google that and find out! Nice busy desk today. I've always got too many projects on the go, and keep hearing my mother's voice in my ear as a child, "Don't start anything else till you've finished this!" I've never been any good at that, lol!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your visit and your nice comment. It's good to know that I am now receiving treatment for some of my more annoying symptoms - no cure for the things I have but anything that improves one's quality of life has to be a bonus! I'm a lot better off than many so can't complain, and I'm in good hands. Life is good.
So glad you like my little album. It's a real adventure - an exploration into different techniques, materials and textures and I'm really enjoying the journey.
Happy WOYWW,

AHHHHH you have found the magazines, now can't wait to see the results. Wait for a warm still day and do it outside if you can as the smell is very strong, also I wear plastic gloves as the ink is very messy and stains your fingers.Good luck, happy citrasolving!! :)
ReplyDeleteI have some citra solve I had to buy it at the health food store, it works so magically with old National Geographic's. Show us your results, when its done
ReplyDeleteMy desk is always a mess when I'm being the most creative!!

Wow that sounds a cool way to recycle magazines - what makes the National Geographic so suitable ? Ali# 5
ReplyDeleteI'm totally curious about this Citra-solve technique. It sounds suspiciously messy but fun. Have fun playing with it and do show us your makes. I've noticed that when I have more than a project or two going on my desk gets really messy and nothing gets done on anything. I think that means I can't multitask projects worth a darn.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what you come up with the magazine pages!
ReplyDeleteI bought my bottle of Citra-solve through Amazon simply because the shipipng was cheaper. My bottle is still sitting under the kitchen sink so now I must get motivated and try my hand at it as well. Thank you for motivating me!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to your results on this project. If you could take notes of your techniques and tools used, it would be so great and would help the rest of us too. :D
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing how you get on with the transfers.

I love your creative 'mess' and your little girls. Have fun with the Citrasolv. I usually let it dry outside for a while because the smell gets a bit strong.
ReplyDeleteYour desk is far from messy! I love the drawing of your little girl. She already has quite the personality! I hadn't heard of citra-solve before. I see National Geographics every once in a while at the library bookstore. I can't wait to see your experiments.
ReplyDeleteHappy belated WOYWW
