Just One more.

Hi

I just thought I would fit in one more short post before the end of 2015.

Sunday Best.
Coloured Pencil on Paper.

I am really getting to love using my coloured pencils.

I hadn't used coloured pencils since I was a child and I picked them up again

a few months ago.

At first I found them a bit of a challenge after working with acrylic paint.

But, with practice, I am starting to get better results.

See you in 2016

New Pastels

Hi

I hope everyone has had a wonderful Christmas.

I have been trying out my new portrait set of Sennelier Oil Pastels.

I started with a quick watercolour background and used a Stabilo All Pencil and
 oil pastel for the figure.

Sending Best Wishes to you for 2016.

More Festive Fun and WOYWW on a Tuesday.

Hi everybody

I hope you are enjoying the run up to Christmas and all is going to plan.

This will be my last post before Christmas so I want to share another festive pencil drawing.

Mummy's Little Angel
coloured pencil on paper

For those of you who are visiting for WOYWW and missed my first one you can see it

Just before I go I wanted to share this whimsical card I received form one of my favourite

blogging friends Robin over at Pink House Studio.

It features one of Robin's own little characters. In fact it was this card that inspired me to

 create 'Mummy's little Angel.'

Thanks Robin for the great card and for the inspiration.

I want to thank all my visitors and those of you who have been kind enough to leave your comments.

 They mean a lot.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL.

Festive Fun

Hi.

It's official.

I am now fully in Christmas mode.

I very rarely do festive themed artwork.

But this little cutie just appeared in my thoughts and I just had to let her out.

Waiting for Christmas.

I love her to bits. Hope you do too.

WOYWW

Another quick post today for WOYWW.

I decided to completely sort out my art room. My desk and furniture have all been pulled out and sitting in the middle of the room and I have a feeling that it probably won't get sorted till after Christmas.

Until it does anything I do will have to be done on my knee so it's a good excuse for practicing my coloured pencil drawing. Here is the latest little sketch but it still needs some work.

WOYWW and a Funny Coincidence

Hi

It's Wednesday again and time for WOYWW

Here is what is on my desk today.

WIP

It is my take on a work by Chagall.

My plan is to mix different elements from a couple of his pieces.

If you missed my last post you can see a coloured pencil drawing of another of his paintings.

And now to the funny coincidence.

I had some old book pages that I tore out of an old dictionary a while ago.

I grabbed a couple at random and one was lying on my desk.

When I looked down this is what I saw.

What a coincidence as we are starting to get in the festive spirit.......

My decorations are coming down from the loft at the weekend and they

will all be up by the 1st December.

Thanks for visiting.

Untitled

HI

My hubby was saying that he likes some of the paintings by Chagall and I thought

I would have a go at painting something in the Chagall style.

Whilst looking through some images on Google I decided to get out my coloured pencils.

Here is a pencil drawing of one of his works that caught my eye.

I couldn't find a record of the title but here is an image of the original work by Chagall .

I think it will be a challenge for me to create an original piece in his style. I will have to give it some

 thought.

I want to send out a big THANK YOU to all who have visited and left comments recently
.
I really do appreciate them all.

WOYWW

What is on my work desk?

Not a lot..........

I sat down at my desk  today with good intentions.

First off I wanted to create a print for framing from my autumnal mono prints. Seen here. I used a mount board frame to isolate parts of my print and this is the best I could come up with. There are lots of leaf prints that I like but nothing that made up something suitable for framing.

I then thought I would do some mark making with autumnal colours in the hopes of creating some papers to use together with the prints.  However things just wouldn't come together today and after I cut up the A2 sized paper I decided just to keep this small assortment. Non of which are compatible with my prints.

Oh well we all have our off days.

Paint Party Friday

Hi

I'm joining in the party this week over at Paint Party Friday.

As you will know, if you are a regular visitor to my blog, I have been working with coloured pencils a lot lately and recently I have been asking fellow bloggers what pencils they like to use. I want to say thank you to those of you who kindly left comments on the subject.

I wanted to invest in a set of artist quality pencils so after some consideration I decided to get a Prismacolor Premier Portrait set.

I used them for this drawing which is the last page of my coloured pencil sketchbook.

The portrait set was used for all but the dress.

I was really pleased with the end result. Now its time to make another sketch book.

Thanks for visiting.

WOYWW

Recently I have been designing and making my daughters wedding invitations. You can have a sneak peek here on my desk.

She wanted a rustic look.

The hearts are made from my handmade fabric paper and are tied up with twine.

WOYWW on Thursday

Hi

I left it too late yesterday to photograph my desk for WOYWW as the light was too bad so if it's not to late to link up to Mr Linky I thought I would join in today. Better late than never as  they say.

Here is what I was working on yesterday.

Another pencil drawing.

Thank you to everyone who has stopped by and left a comment recently.
I really do appreciate it.

Mono Printing with Leaves.

Yesterday I gathered some autumn leaves.

Then I used them to do some mono printing.

I love it when you get a lovely image by chance. This is the paper I cleaned my roller on with some leftover paint from the leaves.

I plan to cut them up and use them to make an autumnal collage.

Thanks for visiting.

Misty Morn

Autumn is my favourite season and the first day of November was a misty autumnal morning. Whilst I was out walking the dogs I was in the mood for gathering some fallen leaves.

Here is some of them after a little arranging.

They were photographed on some brown corrugated card but the brown hasn't shown up in the photo.

There is an autumnal feel to my latest mixed media painting. Here is a cropped version as it is still a WIP and I am struggling with the top right hand corner. I will have to do something drastic to it so I am hoping I don't ruin it. We will see..........

Watch this space.........

Untitled

Hi

Today I want to share another pencil drawing from my
Coloured Pencil Sketchbook.

Thank you to those of you lovely bloggers who have left comments regarding your preferred coloured pencils, I am still undecided but I am thinking that it may be a good idea to buy some singles of a couple of brands and compare them before I invest in a set.

Thanks for stopping by.

More on Coloured Pencils

I have been designing and making my daughters Wedding Invitations so I haven't been able to do anymore work on my latest painting.

However I have been taking time out to look on line at reviews on different brands of coloured pencils as people who are regular visitors to my blog will know that I have developed a love for using them recently and am looking to buy some good quality pencils.

If, by chance, any coloured pencil artists happen to see this post I would value your opinion.

Here is another page from my Coloured Pencil Sketchbook.

Till next time....thanks for visiting. XXX

Progression

As it is time, ,once again, for Paint  Party Friday I thought I would show you some pics of my current WIP

It started out looking like this but the background looked too busy.

So it went through some changes.

The upper background is still the same but the lighting has made it look slightly different. the top one is nearer the original.

There is still more work on both the figure and the background to do. I am hoping it will be finished next time you see it.

Thanks for stopping by.
