Just checking in for this weeks Paint Party Friday.
This week I have been creating a little mixed media painting. It started out with acrylic paint as a base and then I used my new Portfoilo pastels to create layers of colour. I also added some collage to the background and to the 'little lady's' dress. Then some stenciling with some sequin waste and stamping with a handmade texture stamp in white acrylic,
I am going to have to invest in a pastel fixative. If anyone can recommend a good make for fixing oil pastels I would welcome the advise.
I am linking this post to Paint Party Friday. If you haven't checked it out before why not pop over and take a look at great artwork from around the globe.
Thanks for visiting. x
So very sweet,I love her!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful painting. I use cheap hairspray for fixing, seems to work well. Valerie
ReplyDeleteGreat painting. Like Valerie, I have used hairspray in the days when I used pastels. That was the dry stick pastels. I don't know anything about the oil pastels.
ReplyDeleteshe is one styling lady, love the look of her and y ou did a fantastic job creating her
ReplyDeleteI love her dress and pale complexion. The background and all textures are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI don't believe thre is a fixative for oil pastels Carol - I could be wrong tho'; but what I've read is to frame under glass, or if it's in a book, just washi tape some deli or greaseproof paper over it to protect it and the opposite page, if there is one.
Have a great weekend ((hugs))) xo
I LOVE her 'cap' sleeves! Your 'girls' seem so nostalgic to me for some reason. I wonder why?

A great mixed media piece of art.. so adorable too
ReplyDeleteI've yet to try this sort of technique but you inspire me to try it.
When I used oil pastels in a recent workshop the art instructor advised that hairspray is great to fix the work.
Enjoy your weekend
Beautiful girl, so sweet!
ReplyDeleteSmiles, Saskia :)
She is so cute. I love the touch of bright pink and orange in the right corner, and the collage in her dress.
