WOYWW

I haven't worked in my Dylusions Journal for a while now so I thought I would do a page inspired by the artist Modigliani.

Still a lot more work to do on her yet. I prepared the page with gesso and have used acrylics up to now but may add some oil pastel at the end. You know I can't resist them.

Hope you stop by again to see her progress.

Before I go I want to say HELLO & WELCOME to some new followers who have joined me lately. I am so pleased that you like what you see enough to want to come back again.

Sad Girl on a Sunday

I did this quick sketch in oil pastel. Not sure about it though. I think she came out looking too sad.

I had just watched the film 'Big Eyes'. So I thought I would try doing bigger eyes than usual. and they have turned out to be very sad looking eyes indeed.

Thanks for stopping by. x

Paint Party Friday

I would like you to meet Maisy.

Maisy

Another of my little girls in oil pastel. She is the size of a postcard (5 1/2 x 3 1/2  inches). Other materials used were gesso, Stabilo All pencil and fabric for her dress and bow. You can see from the top right hand corner that the postcard is fairly thin so I will attach a piece of mount board to the back to stop her curling up at the edges.

Hope you like her.

I am linking this post to PAINT PARTY FRIDAY. Why not click on the link ant take a look at some great artwork from other party goers.

Before I go. For those of you who may have missed it. Here is the finished painting that I showed here as a WIP last Friday.

She has changed a lot since last Friday.

THANKS FOR STOPPING BY.

WOYWW and The Changeling.

Hello and welcome to everyone visiting this Wednesday.

This is what is on my desk this week.

Over the past week this little painting has gone through quite a few changes.

If you visited here on Friday you will have seen some of them but for those of you who may have missed it here is a few pics showing some of the different stages.

First a change of colour.

Then I changed it back again.

Then I gave her a big dress

Then a new hairdo.

And here she is finished.

The Gentle Wind
5x7 inch canvas board

Last week I said that I didn't like working on canvas board. However I might be changing my mind.

Serendipity Series #3

Whilst working on my currant WIP there was another contender for my Serendipity Series.

The soft colours left on a dried baby wipe used to blend the water soluble oil pastels for the background which has now been changed back to its original earthy colours.

BYE  FOR NOW.

Paint Party Friday.

A couple of days ago I started out with a canvas board and some tissue paper. You can see how it started out here.

Now, I don't really know why I started with a canvas board. Perhaps because I have some lying around not getting used. But it has just reminded me how I dislike working on them. In fact,I don't really like working on canvas at all. I prefer starting out on a smooth surface. That is probably why it started to go downhill fairly quickly.

This is how it ended up looking before I decided to change it completely.

So out came the gesso. Then I used some water soluble oil pastels and a baby wipe to create a pastel coloured background..

I then used some fluid acrylics and a homemade stencil to add some irregular shaped circles.

I'm not sure how this one is going to turn out but it will probably be the last time I work on a canvas board.

*Post Updated *

When I compared the before and after images. I found that I preferred the way it looked before I drastically changed it. So out came the trusty gesso (What would we do without it) and changed it back similar to the way it was before.

This is definitely a 'Work in Progress'

Then a rough sketch.

Then the beginnings of some colour.

A Little Woolen Number

I have been working in my 'Play Time' Journal again.

Some of you may have seen this little one recently. She was a little oil pastel  sketch that I did on a piece of paper that was lying on my desk. She looked like this.

As I said. She was only done on a scrap of paper so I decided to cut her head out and stick it in my 'Play Time' Journal and work on her some more.

This is how she looks now.

I did a little adjustment to the shading and to her eyes and lips and put her in a little knitted cardigan.

The cardigan is based on one I wore in a photo I have from when I was six years old. in fact the hairstyle is the same except I had a fringe or bangs for my american friends.

You may remember that I recently put some artwork in a local exhibition. Unfortunately it was a 'No Sale'.

However after the exhibition I was LUCKY enough to sell these two.

Sisters
SOLD

Sisters was your favourite in the little poll I held here a little while ago and......

Daydreamer,
SOLD

Daydreamer was a close 2nd.

I had a little soft spot  for 'Sisters' but I'm so happy that it has found a new home and I still have my original sketch that inspired the painting which I love to bits.

I'm sending out a BIG THANK YOU to the new owner of the paintings. I am so glad that you like them.

THANKS FOR VISITING.

Just a little Bit.

This little one is in my handmade 'Play Time' Journal.

She has been done in gesso and graphite on a collaged background. The only colour is the tiny red hearts on her dress which were covered in gesso.

Hope you like her.

Hi Everyone,

This week I can show you a piece of mail art that I did for a friend of mine as she has now received it so there is no chance of spoiling the surprise.

She is done in acrylics and oil pastel on a postcard backed with mount board. The envelope was handmade from one of my mono printed papers.

I am linking this post to PAINT PARTY FRIDAY. I hope you will follow the link and see what other party- goers have been up to.

Serendipity Series #1

Serendipity
noun
The occurrence and development of events by chance in a happy or beneficial way.

I like to find accidental images that are pleasing to the eye or even little works of art in themselves. So, I thought I would start a series of posts on the subject.

I picked out this image from a page I have which was created by citrasolv on a page from a National Geographic Magazine.

To me, this looks like a scene of a cliff edge.

I hasten to add that this was not originally a picture of a cliff . This image has been created solely from the ink on the page after it has dissolved.

I think I may enjoy this 'series' I hope you do.

THANKS FOR VISITING.
